How Ssense By Aish Began: A Journey to Natural Confidence

My journey with this brand began when I immigrated to the U.S. and experienced unexpected, drastic changes in my skin and hair. I started noticing troubling issues – dryness, hyper-pigmentation, and significant hair loss and hair thinning– that only worsened with time. Like many people, I turned to commercial products, some of which were recommended by doctors and marketed as “high-quality”, effective solutions. I invested heavily in these products, hoping they would resolve the problems. Instead, they left me disappointed, as my sensitive skin reacted poorly to the chemical-laden formulas. Each product seemed to bring new side effects or, at best, only temporarily masked the symptoms without addressing the root cause. My skin and hair health deteriorated to the point where I felt frustrated and even defeated. The toll on my confidence and well-being was real.

But I wasn’t alone in this struggle clerb. My family members began experiencing similar issues with their skin and hair, which only deepened my resolve to find a lasting solution. Around this time, I was also running a small salon from home, working closely with clients who began sharing their own frustrations with the skincare and haircare products they’d tried. Many of them spoke of the same issues I was dealing with—persistent dryness, pigmentation issues, hair thinning. Hearing these stories from my clients resonated deeply with me, and I realized that my experience wasn’t unique; it was a shared challenge. That’s when I decided to take matters into my own hands.

I’ve always been a bit of an experimenter, so I decided to start researching natural remedies that might offer a gentle, lasting solution. Initially, I wasn’t planning to create products for a business; I just wanted something that worked for myself, my family, and the few clients I served. My first breakthrough came when one of my clients, who suffered from severe sunburn and hyper-pigmentation, asked me for a natural alternative. Driven by their request, I researched and created a mineral-based sunscreen that also had moisturizing properties via the inclusion of Kokum and Shea butter, specifically to help soothe and protect sensitive, damaged skin. The results were surprisingly amazing; not only did their skin improve within 3 months, but they also found the product gentle, and genuinely effective.

This first product, our [Ssense Sun Armour], marked the birth of our brand and laid the foundation for what would become a full line of natural solutions. From there, I started developing other products that tackled common issues I observed in myself and my clients, like our Ssense Hair Oil, which addressed the hair loss and breakage we were all facing. Every product in our line has its own unique story and was crafted to solve a specific issue, reflecting my journey of experimentation and the feedback from my clients. Creating these products has been a transformative experience for me, and the support and gratitude from my clients continue to inspire me as we expand our offerings.

Ssense Beauty was born out of my personal story, but it’s grown into a mission to provide real, effective, and natural solutions for others who have felt the same frustration and disappointment. For me, it’s about creating products that work in harmony with our skin and hair, embracing the power of natural ingredients to heal and protect, and sharing a piece of my journey with each customer.
